Improving the separation

Abstract In the Method Development Basics Topic Circle, we discussed how we can achieve a separation. We want to obtain a chromatogram with peaks of the analytes. In this chapter we assume the following; we have achieved a chromatogram and we discuss whether the separation:
- needs to be improved, we consider the requirements for the separation.
- can be improved, we sum up the parameters that affect the separation.
- can be optimized, and we look for systematic approaches and procedures to ensure the best possible separation results possible.
