So why did we develop Chromedia? We wanted something more that just another website. We wanted a professonal publication, offering a safe home for all of your educational challenges and questions.

But first, let me introduce myself. I am initiator of Chromedia and member of he Editorial Board. I studied analytical chemistry with Leo de Galan in Delft, the Netherlands and did research in spectroscopy with Jim Winefordner at the University of Florida in the US. Then I became a science teacher and publisher, and developed many publications in chemistry, physics and other fields. In recent years, I specialized in developing communities and in addition became a consultant.

Our vision? We are convinced that on line communities for sharing knowledge and experiences is the road to take. If we don't take that road, the road will take us, and we will end up with a mass of unstructured and unvalidated information on one end and unaffordable publications on the other, and you will never find the correct answers. I discussed this with many experts in the field and they were enthusiastic about the concept. So that is why we created Chromedia, to strengthen the quality of analytical chemistry by providing a community platform for sharing know-how.

Chromedia is a hybrid between a community, a Wiki and a regular publication: growing and developing like a Wiki, printable, peer reviewed by well known experts in the field. Chromedia focuses on in depth info on analytical techniques, video presentations, interactive animations, with very visible and 'approachable' contributors, attentive moderation and peer review to guarantee quality. Chromedia now has an offordable subscription price, thanks to the great effort and enthusiasm of expert-volunteers we can keep costs down. By cooperating with several distribution partners, still maintaining our independence, we can reach a large audience. Chromedia is not profit focused, but will use its revenue to cover costs and invest in further development.

If this appeals to you, take a tour, I hope you see what we see: an inviting, attractive and time saving tool for everyone that uses analytical chemistry in his or hers job or education. We are proud of what we have accomplished sofar, growing step by step, Topic Circle by Topic Circle. We invite you to join us on this exciting mission. You can also mail us.
