Setting Temperatures and Flows

Abstract With the instrument properly set-up and, the inlet plumbed with carrier gas and the column properly installed, the inlet can be set up for analysis. This involves setting an appropriate inlet temperature, setting the column flow rate and the split vent flow rate to generate the desired mass of analyte on column. The basic concepts behind these settings will be discussed in this section. Their application to method development is discussed in the tutorial on Method Development in this Topic Circle.
